Football to me is the best sport in the WORLD. You can hit people legally, stay in shape, and get beat up just by running your butt off. Those are not the main reasons I like football. The main reasons are for the lessons it teaches that we can use through life. One lesson i've learned is to never quit and never give up on your goals. I have quit one thing in my entire life, but that was because it went from a sport ran by christians and people using it alot to spread the word of god to it bein a sport ran by people that pick fights for no reason, do drugs, and don't have a good reputation with anyone. I would never quit football because I love the friends I make, the shape I get in, and how it can relate to the bible alot. My team from Minden, Nevada (Douglas Tigers) prey before every game at the rock on the feild that has been there since the beginning of the school. We have not won a state championship since 1974 and we are not the biggest and stongest players around, but we play with heart, speed, determination, and fear. We bring the community together and also help out communities outside our own. In 2006, our feild was torn up due to construction of a new 2.5 million dollar new one (money donated by big george), which gave our team 2 slogans, the first road warriors and the second ovecome adversity. We played 9 out of ten games away and won 8 of them all on the road, with a very small crowd. When we played at home we had arecord number of people show up (almost 4,000 people). We ended up winning the seirra league championship, but were knocked out off the play-offs in the first round of the play-offs by the team we lost to in overtime in our second game of the season (which we have not beaten in 12 years). After the game the crowd stayed and cheered for a while and a bunch of them yelled "We love you tigers!!!!", that made me realize what we had done for the town, and for ourselves. The overcome adversity came from us not having a feild to play on, still winning and we had sick, injured, new, and young people playin their hardest all the time. We have not reached the goal of a state championship yet, but we will not give up. Our coach teaches that no matter the size, strength or skill of a player or team can stop that team as long as we don't give up and play with heart.
